My Say

Letter to theAge:Malcolm Turnbull is sticking with his principles an climate change. As a long term critic of politicians who desert their principles under fire, I actually applaud him on his stance. None of us can afford to be skeptics about climate change. We must all act, just in case it is proven to be accurate!

Letter to theAge: Could we get on with more important matters, such as health and education, and stop rehasing the Utegate affair. This is starting to look like a convenient smokescreen to what is really crucial to the tunning of our country.

Letter to theAge: It seems that people with principles should not go into the political arena. Compromise does not benefit anyne in the long run. Get the Message, Peter Garrett.

Letter to theAge: We have currently 5% less water in storage than last year, yet the Government is still prevaricating about introducing a tougher stage of water saving. Minister Holding, you have to be make tough decisions in order to secure our drinking water. Stage 4 now please!

Letter to theAge: The Tanberg cartoon, The Age 22nd September, is disappointing as it makes light of the most serious, traumatic abuse of human rights against women. The circumcision of males, usaully performed under sterile conditions at an early age, cannot and should not be compared to the "circumcision" that a woman is subjected to. This type of circumsicsion is actually mutilation, performed under traumatic circumstances in non sterile conditions and often leads to a life time of pain, death in childbirth and other medical conditions which are numerous. Perhaps if our tribunal were to face a similar trauma to themselves or indeed their own daughters, I feel sure these Kenyan women would be granted a visa to stay. I support these women in their quest for justice and a life without pain.

Letter to theAge: Leave the Governor General alone. As soon as we get a GG who is active, interested and motivated to make a difference, the critics emerge. The Liberal Party should redirect their venom to someone who deserves it.

Letter to theAge:The Liberal Party has come up with a great idea, to man all railway stations. Can I remind them that it was their party who slashed this service in the first place? Sadly though, when it comes to the vote, some people will have short memories.

Letter to theAge:I have no problems with the National Curriculum, but is the Government prepared to send more in the training of existing teachers, who came through the soon to be defunct system, which was devoid of the 'basics'? Are we not putting the cart before the horse? The training of teachers needs to go hand in hand with the introduction of this new system.
